River Renewal Initiative: Namami Gange Services
48 sewage management projects are under implementation and 99 sewage projects have been completed in many parts of INDIA.
71 Ghats/Crematoria projects for construction, modernization, and renovation of 270 Ghats/Crematoria and Kunds/Ponds have been initiated.
River Surface cleaning for collection of floating solid waste from the surface of the Ghats and River and its disposal are afoot and pushed into service at 11 locations.
NMCG's Ganga rejuvenation vision aims to restore endemic and endangered biodiversity in the river. Projects involve the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Kolkata, and Uttar Pradesh State Forest Department.
Grossly Polluting Industries (GPIs) in April 2019 had 1072, inspected annually for compliance with environmental norms. Out of 961, 636 were complying, 110 non-compliant, and 215 self-closed.
The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation has completed the construction of toilets in 1674 Gram Panchayats in five Ganga Basin States, out of a target of 15,275. The project is part of the National Mission for Clean Ganga, aiming to rejuvenate the Ganga.
